Christie's 20th/21st Century London Evening Sales in March 2025 proved to be a resounding success, achieving a significant combined total of £130,251,700. The auctions demonstrated robust market activity, evidenced by exceptionally high sell-through rates of 94% by lot and an impressive 97% by value. This strong performance underscores the continued appetite among collectors for quality works across various modern and contemporary categories. Several individual lots achieved notable success, including René Magritte's captivating surrealist work, "La reconnaissance infinie," which fetched a substantial £10.3 million. A particular highlight was the establishment of a new auction record for Michael Andrews' compelling painting, "School IV: Barracuda under Skipjack Tuna," which soared to £6,060,000, demonstrating the growing recognition for the artist's oeuvre.
