Sotheby's Important Design auction will be curated this season by the renowned Betty Catroux, featuring nearly 200 lots. The auction will commence with the Bernard Laurent collection, showcasing Art Nouveau and Art Deco masterpieces by artists like Louis Majorelle and Jean Dunand, alongside sculptures by Rembrandt Bugatti. A special tribute will honor François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne with over twenty significant works, including the rare "Bar aux Autruches." The sale will present a comprehensive overview of 20th and 21st-century design, from Art Deco pieces by Ruhlmann and Rateau to post-war designs by Giacometti and Perriand, concluding with contemporary works by the Campana brothers and others. Additionally, a curated selection from a European private collection will feature designs by Maria Pergay and Paul Evans.
